Marble mythological bird with a crescent moon

This marble painting of a mythological bird with a crescent moon depicts an impressive bird, carved entirely from white marble, with imposing, wide-spread wings, each feather carved with breathtaking precision. Above the head rises a graceful crescent moon, surmounted by a smooth sphere held between two curved horn-like forms, whilst a richly decorated, ornamental background full of architectural details frames the sculpture. At the base, the bird’s talons rest on an equally lavishly carved plinth brimming with Gothic motifs, set against a dark, atmospheric background that makes the white sculpture stand out strikingly. Pure marble white against a deep, dark background, encapsulated in a sculptural and impressive design, this photo print exudes a monumental, timeless presence that commands awe in any space. The contrast between the smooth, sculpted stone and the richly ornamental background creates a powerful visual balance, whilst every feather, groove and architectural detail is rendered with astonishing precision. This sculptural depth lends the composition a tangible, almost breathtaking grandeur.

This depiction combines the mythical power of a celestial bird with the symbolism of the moon, rendered in a classicist, almost Gothic style of sculpture. By placing the bird with its wings spread wide at the centre beneath the crescent moon, a stately interplay between freedom and celestial power is created. Nothing in the composition appears haphazard; every detail reinforces the monumental power of the whole.

For a classical, monumental or Gothic-inspired space where grandeur and craftsmanship are valued, this artwork makes a striking statement. Available in various materials and multiple sizes, the expressive power of this sculpture remains compelling on any scale.
