Pigeon in a decorative circle, red and blue

The painting ‘Dove in a Decorative Circle in Red and Blue’ depicts a gracefully stylised dove with widely outstretched, ivory-coloured wings rising against a deep red circle, like a heraldic coat of arms. Beneath the bird unfolds a lush fan of leaf-shaped motifs in petrol blue, rust red and ochre, whilst small round medallions in the four corners, each featuring its own miniature motif, frame the whole. A clean, circular border in off-white encloses the entire composition, lending it the allure of an antique coat of arms or guild emblem.

Deep rust red and petrol blue, balanced against ivory white and contained within a symmetrical and refined design, give this photo print a solemn, decorative appearance that adds character to any room. The contrast between the soft, stylised bird and the richly decorated, geometric frame creates a powerful visual balance, whilst every feather, leaf and ornament has been rendered with great precision. This clean symmetry lends the composition an impressive, almost heraldic depth.

This work draws on the tradition of Art Deco and heraldic illustration, in which animals are immortalised within strictly ordered, decorative compositions. By placing the dove centrally and in perfect symmetry within the circle, a timeless interplay between freedom and structural rigour is created. Nothing in the composition appears haphazard; every motif reinforces the stately harmony of the whole. This elegant work of art is perfectly suited to a classical, Art Deco or eclectic interior where symmetry and craftsmanship are valued. Available on various materials and in multiple sizes, the expressive power of this design remains compelling at any desired scale.
