Wijnhaven harbour in Rotterdam, with its relatively calm water and colorful architecture and ships, is a good place for making reflectifications like this. A photo of a reflection, taken in sunny and almost windless weather and then flipped around the horizontal axis. This creates the illusion of looking up from underwater.
Here we see three residential towers. On the left, with the crane, the Casanova, which is still under construction, next to it the recently completed Our Domain and to the far right Wijnhaeve, which is already fifteen years old. The round white shape of the historic barge at the bottom right completes the composition, as a counterpoint to the mainly vertical straight lines of the modern buildings.
My work can be located in the border regions of photography, painting and computer visuals. With my company 3Develop I do work in commission but I use the same techniques, skills and software to make free work. I am originally an architect and I live in Rotterdam; for that reason the architecture of that city is a major (but not the only) source of inspiration. But also travel to countries like Iceland and Britain, or walks in the Netherlands, provide much material. Seeing and showing quality and beauty, that is what my work is about.
