Reflections on a minimalist still life

This four-part series explores the viewer's dynamics and the change in our perception as we approach a subject. Starting with a still life featuring a vase and organic elements, the three following images present increasingly closer details of the same composition. But this is more than a mere enlargement: each step forward causes a subtle shift in the arrangement – elements change their position or proportion slightly. These changes illustrate how our attention changes when we look closely: certain details come into focus, while others lose significance or disappear from view. The series thus addresses the process of viewing itself and shows that proximity brings not only enlargement, but also a reinterpretation of what is seen.

The reduced, minimalist design language with clear silhouettes and organic contours creates a calm, timeless atmosphere. The colour palette of warm rosewood and ochre tones, with muted olive green, creates a harmonious overall impression. At the centre is a vase, accompanied by stylised branches and abstract shapes which remind of architectural elements. The grid-like arrangement of the four images – separated by narrow lines – emphasises the serial character of the work and encourages the viewer to follow the subtle transitions from image to image.
