The Bubblegum Rebel

I painted her because she reminds me what it means to stay alive inside. She is old, yes, but she carries her years like a crown, not a weight. Every deep wrinkle I laid down with thick impasto strokes tells a story of laughter, loss, and love. I let the paint stand proud on the canvas, ridged and tactile, so you can almost feel the texture of a life fully lived.

Her silver hair rises like a windswept halo, wild and unapologetic. Small cobalt blue studs glint at her ears, tiny sparks of mischief. Her floral blouse blooms in loose, generous strokes, a garden that refuses to fade with age.

At the center, that glossy pink bubble swells like a small planet of joy. It pulls your eye instantly, a burst of childlike play against the moody navy and indigo shadows behind her. That contrast is the whole heart of the work: the dark depth of years meeting the bright spark of a spirit that never grew old.

She taught me something as I worked. We do not lose our youth. We simply learn to blow bigger bubbles.
