A characteristic shed with a broken window lit by a light bulb on the ceiling. The red moped was once the great pride of this gentleman, but the years have now left their mark.
In my staged works I try to let the viewer invent the story himself and that also applies to this work. The inspiration for the story that I came up with took some patience until all the elements in the work came together.
I am also inspired by the beautiful narrative works of the Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf, but I try to create my own style. This style can be seen visually in the many contrasts in lighting, color and subjects and also the color red which is the main theme in my (staged) works.
My work exists at the intersection of modern Pop Art and Expressionism, with influences from Modernism. Contrast, whether in light, color, or subject, plays a central role in my art. The color red is often prominently featured.
