This digital painting is based on a photograph , taken in the Icelandic town of Stykkishólmur, located on the Snaefellsness peninsula. Icelandic towns are often colorful, perhaps as a kind of compensation for the long, cold, dark winter. But the hilly Stykkishólmur takes it to the max. Every facade and every roof seems to be painted in a different color. Even the boats in the harbor join in the colorful image. The snow-capped mountains and gray sky provide some tranquility to the image.
