About ‘Young Woman with Fan’ by Marja van den Hurk
My adaptation of a photograph of a young woman with hand fan.
The photo was taken by Japanese photographer Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1934).
I digitally removed the woman from her original background and moved her to a self-designed, vintage, pastel-coloured background in modern shapes.

Art with a twist by Marja
Great imagination and very creativeThe stylists at Art Heroes call my art style ‘Art with a Wink’. And I couldn't agree more. Life is serious enough as it is, don't you think? ;-)
I mainly make surrealist artworks and collages, because in those artstyles I can so wonderfully unleash my creativity and unbridled imagination! But I also enjoy gratefully taking advantage of the fact that museums all over the world make their paintings available digitally and then unleash my own creative touch…
