About Marjolijn van den Berg

Marjolijn van den Berg is a photographer from the Netherlands with a keen eye for atmosphere and detail. Marjolijn draws her inspiration mainly from nature, which she transforms into images that are (generally) minimalistic and soothing. She has created a recognisable style, often based on a refined sense of composition, minimalistic tranquillity and natural colours. Her architectural perspective is often reflected in this style.

Her photographs show a beautiful balance between tranquillity and liveliness. Her work fits in well with many interior styles, including minimalist, natural, rustic and Scandinavian. In general, her art is subtle and soothing, with natural subjects. In recent years, bright, striking colours have also become increasingly common in her work, often tone-on-tone.

Her fascination with photography began at an early age. Photography is a constant in her life: during her studies at art school, as a hobby alongside architecture at Delft University of Technology, and ultimately as a professional passion. Nine years ago, she took a professional photography course and started her own business. She now has her own studio space, where she creates and produces many of her photographs. She loves experimenting with photography, whether with reflections, water, smoke or ice. She takes her time until her image is exactly as she envisions it.
