Canvas vs. Art Frame
Canvas and Art Frame are our bestsellers when it comes to materials.
The most important differences:
- Canvas is stretched over durable, approved wood. Art Frames come with a narrow aluminium frame into which the printed textile is then pressed. This means that the same frame can be used for different (identically sized) textile prints. The central difference between Canvas and Art Frame is therefore the possibility of changing prints.
- Due to shipping restrictions, the maximum size for canvas is smaller. You can find these measurements when ordering your picture. Art Frames, however, can be ordered in sizes up to 15 by 3 metres.
- Would you like to improve the acoustics in your home or office? Then an Art Frame with sound-absorbing panels might be for you. These panels are invisibly placed behind the canvas in the frame, so sound is absorbed rather than reflected.
With canvas, adding sound-absorbing panels is not possible.

Good to know: The frame makes your work appear larger but also literally increases the size of your work. Tray frames add 1.5cm to each edge of the picture (e.g. a 30x50 print becomes 33x53). A gold frame adds 7cm to each edge (30x50 becomes 44x64).
With the tray frame, the work almost floats in the frame, while with a gold decorative frame it falls slightly over the work.

Material
The minimum size is 20x20 cm. You can find the maximum size of canvas under your favourite artwork whenever you are ordering it.
Good to know: The sizes you choose will fit the work exactly. So there is no cutting to the work, or deforming the work. Do you want a different ratio/size? Please contact us.
By this we mean the side of the canvas. You can think of a canvas as a cloth folded around a wooden frame. As a result, part of the work can also be seen on the side. You decide what you want to see on the side of your canvas:
- Faded sides: the colours of the work appear faded on the side.
- Mirrored sides: the work is mirrored on the sides.
- Folded sides: the image continues over the sides of the canvas.

The sizes you choose fit the work exactly. So there is no deformation of the work.

Giclée is a printing process that ensures very high-quality prints.
This high quality is achieved by:
- Print technique
- The quality of the inks
- High-quality cotton (canvas)
Giclée printing uses uninterrupted ink jets that print different colours layer by layer. This is made possible by piezo print head technology, which allows the ink quantity and frequency to be dosed very precisely.
The inks are based on real pigments. These pigmented inks ensure colour fastness for up to 100 years. Another advantage of pigment inks is that they do not stink!
No you don't feel those. This is because it is a giclée print. In other words, a printing technique where the work you choose is printed on high-quality cotton. Because it is razor-sharp, it looks just like the real thing, but you don't feel this.
It is possible to have a photo printed through us. However, it is important that this photo is taken with a good camera in high resolution and that you are the rightful owner of the photo. Here you can upload your own photo on canvas.
Pigmented inks can give a colour fastness of 100 years or more. In addition, a giclée on canvas is manually coated with several layers of transparent varnish. The advantage of varnishing is that the colours stand out beautifully and the canvas is extra protected against UV light, becomes more scratch-resistant and can be cleaned if, for example, it gets dusty.

Finishing
The canvas prints are tightly stretched on PEFC-approved wood. High-quality wood that does not deform under pressure. You can choose the thickness of this wood yourself. Choose a wood thickness of 2 or 4,5 cm.
On large formats, the 4,5 cm thick variant looks more robust. If you hang a 4,5 cm thick canvas in a place where you walk right past it, a narrow hall or close to it, choose the 2 cm thick variant.
By the way, it does not mean that 4,5 cm thick is sturdier. Both thicknesses do not warp, so mainly choose the one you like best!

Hanging canvas
Canvas comes with a hanging system already affixed. The metal fixture can be easily hung from a screw or nail. You place the hanging system on top of a screw or nail, on the ribbed edge. For works under 1 metre, there is a single fixture, for works larger than 1 metre, there are two.

Shipping
Canvas is securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. A courier collects the package from our production and delivers it directly to your home or office.
We work with couriers who are used to handling fragile parcels, so that's all right. Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.
Of course, something can always happen during shipping. If your parcel does get damaged during transport, please contact us and we will resolve it quickly and correctly.
