A colourful explosion in a glass vase

The painting ‘Colourful Explosion in a Glass Vase’ depicts a rounded glass vase in which an eruption of colour has been frozen in time. From the base, spikes of pink, turquoise, yellow and deep red surge upwards, breaking through the neck and splattering above the rim into fine droplets. The deep black surrounding them catches these splashes like stars.

It is the movement that carries this image. The colours appear thick and creamy, more like paint than liquid, and seem to solidify mid-ascent. Through the glass, you can see how the hues blend without ever fully merging, with the cool blue-green at the bottom flowing into warm orange and red peaks higher up. The vase itself remains largely transparent and catches sharp reflections of light along its curves. At the base, the whole piece is reflected in the smooth surface, giving the colours a second life.

So much colour against so much black gives the work a rich and luxurious feel. Placed above a sideboard, in a dining room or against a minimalist wall, this will naturally become the focal point that everyone looks at.

For anyone who loves colour, abstract photography or images that capture a moment lasting no more than a second, this is a print that never ceases to fascinate. A vase that is not filled, but overflowing.
