Afro chicken

The ‘Afro Chicken’ painting depicts a black chicken from the front, with a crest sticking out in all directions. On top of her head grows an enormous tuft of fluffy feathers that fans out around her skull like a full afro, far too big for the tiny face beneath it. Against the deep black background, that wild mane glows like a silvery cloud.

The face beneath completes the portrait. Two golden-yellow eyes stare straight at you with unyielding determination, flanked by a bright red comb and two long, wrinkled wattle that hang from the beak like jewellery. The red of these skin folds stands out sharply against all the black feathers, whilst the grey beak forms the focal point. Every feather on the breast is finely rendered and catches just enough light to remain visible without overwhelming the image. What remains is an animal that looks both comical and utterly self-assured.

The stunning colours and exclusive design make this photo print an eye-catcher that effortlessly holds your attention. Whether you hang this piece in the kitchen, the living room or a playful study corner, it brings a sense of humour, character and quirky beauty wherever it goes.

For lovers of farm animals, unusual breeds of chicken or portraits with a strong personality, this is a print that really stands out. This hen knows exactly what she looks like and clearly has no problem with it whatsoever.
