After the Storm

The work depicts a dreamlike landscape in which water, air and light merge almost seamlessly. A dark, deep-blue mass of clouds moves across the picture from the left, forming a striking contrast with the warm glow on the horizon. There, a soft peach and gold-coloured light breaks through, stretching across the reflective water like a long trail of light. The composition naturally draws the eye to the bright point in the distance. Dark banks on either side act as natural frames and enhance the sense of depth. Particularly striking is the transition between reality and abstraction: in some places, the clouds seem to disintegrate into grainy, almost painted textures. Especially around the warm patches of light, small copper-coloured accents emerge, lending the landscape an almost supernatural aura.
The large, tranquil expanse at the top is also a defining feature. The blue-grey sky provides a counterbalance to the dramatic clouds and lends the work a sense of stillness and space. At the bottom, this tranquillity is echoed in the smooth water, where subtle vertical reflections are visible.
The result strikes a balance between landscape art and abstract art. Darkness and light meet precisely on the horizon, causing the image to evoke associations with hope, tranquillity, an approaching dawn and the moment when light reappears after a storm.
