This Swamp Cypress, as its name suggests, stands along the edge of a small pond. This conifer is one of the few conifers to drop its needles in winter. In autumn, it is beautifully coloured. It can be seen from afar just because of the bright orange colour of this tree's needles. This is still a young tree, as the trunk can grow 3 to 5 metres thick. This tree is native to North America and so it was planted here and still has many years to grow. On an almost windless day like this, the water of the little pond is almost completely smooth and so the reflection of this tree is really very bright and fresh orange. If all goes well, there will be many more beautiful autumn seasons to come for this Bog Cypress. The colours of this photo are obviously the autumn colours namely orange, yellow, green, and brown.
