Butterflies in Copper and Midnight Blue

This expressive portrait radiates freedom, beauty and transformation. Against a deep midnight-blue background, a female figure appears with her eyes closed and a relaxed, upward-looking posture. Butterflies in warm copper, peach and sand tones flutter around her head, creating a poetic atmosphere in which nature and imagination merge. The composition is characterised by a striking contrast between the dark background and the light skin tones. The butterflies form a vibrant crown that adds movement and energy to the image. Particularly striking are the warm orange eyeshadow, the soft pink blush on the cheek and the graphic simplicity of the black contour lines. Together, these elements give the portrait a contemporary feel, drawing on influences from illustrative and modern figurative art.

On closer inspection, it is striking how the butterflies not only move around the figure but also seem to blend into the hairstyle and the composition itself. This creates a symbolic connection between inner growth, freedom and change. The white flower in her hair provides a subtle point of calm amidst all the movement and reinforces the sense of balance.

With its combination of elegant simplicity, deep colours and symbolic imagery, this artwork is an atmospheric eye-catcher. It fits beautifully into modern, bohemian, eclectic and Scandinavian interiors, bringing a sense of lightness and renewal to the space.
