Cobalt Blue Silence

This contemporary figurative artwork depicts a human form constructed from bold geometric planes and tactile paint textures. The composition strikes a balance between abstraction and recognisability, meaning that the figure represents not so much an individual as a sense of presence, tranquillity and introspection.

The warm ochre and skin tones form a harmonious contrast with the deep cobalt blue form on the right-hand side. This blue section immediately draws the eye and acts as a visual counterbalance within the composition. The face has been reduced to a simple white form without facial features, shifting the emphasis from identity to emotion and interpretation.

The visible brushstrokes and relief-like paint layer give the work a handcrafted and almost sculptural quality. The twisting movements of the brush are particularly evident in the white areas, adding extra dynamism to the tranquil composition. The neutral background enhances the serenity of the image and allows the forms to breathe freely. A subtle detail is the way in which the different areas of colour touch one another without completely merging. This creates a tension between connection and isolation, giving the work a deeper emotional resonance. The result is a modern, timeless composition that brings together elegance and tranquillity.
