It is not often in the Netherlands that it is cold enough to freeze soap bubbles, but when the weather cooperates for once, this is a great thing to do. It has to be really cold, preferably minus three or colder, and there has to be very little. And then all you have to do is find the right ground and keep trying. This shot was taken just after sunrise, usually the coldest point of the night. Because of this, the sun is still low and you get nice light in the bubbles. AL immediately after blowing, the first ice crystals and ice flowers begin to form, creating a beautiful spectacle. Once frozen, the bubble is very fragile and disintegrates at the slightest breath of wind.
