Colourful landscape in a glass vase

The painting ‘Colourful Landscape in a Glass Vase’ captures an entire floral landscape within a rounded glass vase. At the bottom, pink roses, orange dahlias's and yellow flower heads bloom amongst dense green moss and ferns. Behind them, dark mountains rise up with a small river in the valley, whilst at the top, a twilight sky with clouds fills the upper part of the vase.

It is the transition from foreground to background that makes this image so successful. The flowers in the foreground are sharp and tangible, with each petal clearly visible, whilst the mountain landscape behind them softens and fades into mist. This makes the vase appear much deeper than it actually is. The glass remains visible throughout: a bright streak of light runs down the right-hand edge, and at the top, the rim catches the light in a thin line. The dark background pushes everything forward.

So much colour within such a', sleek object gives this piece a refined and precious appearance. In a living room, bedroom or hall, it naturally becomes the focal point. Anyone who loves flowers, dreams of mountains or enjoys looking at images in which two worlds merge will find something special here. A garden and a distant view, both in the same vase.
