Concorde Over Manhattan at Golden Dusk

I have always been in love with airplanes, and no machine stirs my heart quite like the Concorde. In this painting, I wanted to capture that thrill, the moment supersonic beauty meets the golden hour above Manhattan. I gave her the classic Air France livery, that proud blue lettering and the tricolor tail fin, climbing steeply into a sky I built with thick, deliberate impasto strokes. The delta wings stretch across the canvas, their undersides glowing bronze in the sunset, while the iconic droop-nose tips gently downward. Soft vapor trails ribbon behind her, dissolving into billowing orange and ochre clouds.

Below, I painted New York the way I imagine it looked from a Concorde window. Central Park sits like a dark emerald rectangle among the towering skyscrapers. Suspension bridges arch over rivers that catch the fading light, turning to liquid gold. I chose warm tones to celebrate an era of daring engineering and glamour, when crossing the Atlantic in hours felt like a miracle.

For me, this piece is a tribute, a love letter to flight itself. Every brushstroke carries my admiration for the engineers, pilots, and dreamers who made this magnificent aircraft soar. She will always be my favorite silhouette against the sky.
