Corsair Sunset Pass Over the Deck

I have always been captivated by aircraft, and this Corsair is where that love pours straight from my brush. I painted her banking low over the carrier, those unmistakable inverted gull wings slicing through the salt air. The propeller spins into a golden blur, yellow tips flashing, while the massive radial engine catches the last fire of the sunset. I wanted you to feel the raw power in her polished fuselage, the US star-and-bar insignia proud on wing and body.

The sky was my playground here. I built the stormy clouds with thick impasto strokes, layering charcoal grays against warm orange light until the whole scene felt alive and unsettled. Below, the sea churns wild. I let the paint crash across the carrier deck as sea spray, energetic and textured, almost wet to the touch.

Look closely and you will find the deck crew, small figures frozen in awe as she thunders past. I placed them there because I remember that feeling, that childhood thrill of watching something so mighty tear across the sky. This piece is my tribute to speed, courage, and the machines that first made me dream.
