Earthly Forms – Serene Blossoming

This work forms part of the ‘Earthly Forms’ series, in which organic shapes, natural hues and pronounced brushstrokes come together in a serene, timeless composition. Large floral forms fill almost the entire picture plane and appear to fold slowly over one another. The thick layers of impasto paint lend the petals an almost sculptural quality, with every brushstroke remaining visible and the direction of the paint reinforcing the form.

The colour palette consists of bright white, soft shades of grey, beige, sand and warm ochre, complemented by deep accents of black and olive green. These contrasts create a powerful composition without losing its serene atmosphere. The open flower in the centre immediately catches the eye with its subtly painted centre, whilst the surrounding petals create a rhythmic movement. The refined nuances in the paint texture are striking: some petals display long, flowing ridges, whilst others have a softer, layered texture. The dark shapes between the flowers add depth and allow the lighter areas to stand out even more.

Through the combination of abstraction and recognisable floral forms, the work exudes tranquillity, elegance and natural harmony. It fits effortlessly into a modern, Scandinavian, Japandi or wabi-sabi interior and makes a refined statement centred on texture and simplicity.
