Earthly Forms – Streams of Tranquillity

This work from the ‘Earthly Forms’ series exudes tranquillity through a fluid interplay of organic lines, subtle colour transitions and powerful impasto textures. The composition appears to be built up from layers of earth, rock and flower-like forms that flow across the canvas in a natural rhythm. The broad white brushstrokes are applied generously, creating deep reliefs that capture the light in a vibrant way and give the work a different character from every viewing angle. The soft shades of white, beige, sand, taupe and grey are interspersed with warm earthy brown accents and dark contours that connect the various forms. Particularly striking is the undulating white band on the right-hand side, which winds its way through the composition like a natural stream, guiding the eye through the work. On the left, concentric brushstrokes provide a subtle counterbalance, creating a harmony between movement and stillness. Small nuances in the paint, such as visible palette knife strokes and transparent layers, lend the work extra depth and authenticity.

The abstract forms evoke associations with eroded landscapes, mineral layers, shells and flower petals, without being confined to a single recognisable subject. This results in a timeless work of art in which texture, natural elegance and balance take centre stage. It fits perfectly into a modern, Scandinavian, Japandi or wabi-sabi interior.
