F-14 Sunrise Launch

There's a moment I chase every time I lift my brush: the split second when metal becomes prayer. This painting holds it. I've loved airplanes since I was a boy watching them tear open the sky, and here I finally set that wonder onto canvas. The F-14 Tomcat climbs, wings swept, still trailing the ghost of steam from the catapult that flung her skyward. You can almost feel the shove in your chest.

I painted the light as I feel it, not as it is. Burnt orange bleeds into ochre, then surrenders to deep blues, that quiet threshold between night and day where courage lives. Below, the carrier holds steady, small and patient, a home she'll return to.

On the tail I gave the skull and crossbones its due, the Jolly Rogers, marked "200." It reminds me that beauty and danger often share the same wing. Thick, restless brushstrokes let me pour speed and heart into every inch.

For me, flight has always meant surrender and defiance at once. I hope you feel that pull too, the human ache to rise, to leave the deck behind and answer the sky.
