Face in Geometry

This modern abstract portrait depicts a woman’s face in which human forms and geometric patches of colour blend seamlessly together. The profile is reduced to bold contours and a limited colour palette of warm terracotta, deep dark blue, gold and off-white. This creates a graphic composition that feels both minimalist and striking.

The closed eyelids lend the work a serene, almost meditative quality. It is striking how the dark shape moves downwards from the forehead along the face, eventually merging into the lips and chin. This creates a single, continuous visual movement that connects the various parts of the portrait. The large terracotta-coloured shape around the eye acts as a soft frame, whilst the golden area in the bottom left adds warmth. Furthermore, the natural skin texture remains subtly visible beneath the areas of colour. This tactile detail forms an intriguing contrast with the clean geometric shapes and lends the work an unexpected human softness.

The portrait strikes a balance between figurative art, abstract art and modern minimalism. The combination of tranquillity, feminine elegance and powerful colour contrasts makes it particularly well-suited to a modern, mid-century, Scandinavian or eclectic interior. A stylish eye-catcher that appears refined up close and almost graphic from a distance.
