Fading skylines

The painting captures the mystical and mysterious atmosphere of a shrouded metropolis that seems to be awakening from a dream. Schematic architectural contours, reminiscent of soaring skyscrapers and historic bridge arches, emerge delicately from a dense mist of colour. At the centre of the composition, a fluid, warm light in rich shades of gold and yellow radiates, illuminating the surrounding scene from within. Through the artist’s characteristic multi-layered and semi-transparent painting style, the rigid urban structures appear to dissolve in the light. Cool shades of turquoise, jade and deeper greens run through the lower sections of the picture, lending the metropolis a soothing, almost unreal depth. Darker shades of blue and brown at the edges create a striking frame and reinforce the work’s mysterious, veil-like effect. Vertical brushstrokes and delicate, blurred colour gradients evoke the impression of rain-soaked, mirror-like streets or descending mist. The boundaries between built reality and pure chromatic abstraction blur in a fascinating way. Glints of light and subtle textures in the application of paint invite the viewer to discover ever-new architectural details amidst the apparent chaos. Overall, the artwork evokes a sublime, tranquil yet captivating atmosphere, making the city appear like a timeless monument shimmering in the light.
