Ford Capri Mk1 on a Sunset Road

When I began this painting, I wanted to hold on to a feeling more than a place. A cherry-red Ford Capri Mk1 rests on a winding, dusty road, and it carries the quiet promise of every journey we have ever longed to take. Built in the late 1960s, this European classic still speaks of freedom, of summers that seemed endless.

I worked with thick impasto, layering paint so heavily that each stroke catches light like the road itself. The sunset spills its warm, golden glow across the chrome bumper and curved hood, while the sky churns in violet, lavender and fiery orange. I let those clouds move with restless energy, because evenings like this never stay still.

Tall cypress trees stand to the left like silent witnesses. Along the road, a rustic stone wall guides the eye toward rolling hills that dissolve into blue haze, where a distant villa waits.

Painting this scene reminded me that nostalgia is something we share. Many of us remember a car, a road, a golden hour that shaped who we became. I hope this canvas invites you to pause, travel back for a moment, and find your own story somewhere along that curving road.
