Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria by the Sea

I painted this Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria the way I remember the end of a long summer drive: slowed down, glowing, almost holding its breath. The car rests on a rough coastal dirt path, its two-tone body of teal and cream catching the last low light of golden hour. I wanted that cool turquoise to sing against a sky of ochre, sienna and burnt orange, as if the car carried a piece of the sea inside it.

Every surface is built with thick impasto, paint laid on so heavily you can almost feel its ridges. I let the brushstrokes stay visible, because for me they hold the movement of the moment. Light flares along the chrome grille, the bumper guards and the sweeping V-trim, while the whitewall tires sink gently into gold and green earth.

To the left, dark silhouetted trees stand like quiet witnesses. To the right, a winding road drifts toward the shimmering water, inviting us softly onward.

This painting is not only about a classic American car. It is about the pause we all share, the moment we stop, look at the horizon, and feel connected to everyone who ever stood still in that same warm light.
