Ford Galaxie 500 at Mountain Sunset

When I first stood before this cream-colored 1964 Ford Galaxie 500, I felt time slow down. Its chrome grille, dual headlights and long, clean lines carry the optimism of an era that believed the road could lead anywhere. I wanted to honor that belief, so I placed the car on a dusty gravel path at the foot of rugged mountains, just as the sun began to sink.

I painted with thick impasto, layering oil paint so heavily that each brushstroke keeps its own ridge and rhythm. Gold, amber and ochre spill across the sky and catch on the hood, the roof and the polished trim. Strong light falls from the upper left, while deep blues and charcoal shadows gather beneath the chassis and in the distant mountain folds.

For me, this painting is about more than a classic car. It holds the memory of family road trips, open windows and the quiet freedom of not knowing what waits beyond the next hill. Many of us carry a version of that journey inside. I hope that when you look at this Galaxie resting in the golden hour, you recognize your own road, and feel how nostalgia softly connects all of us.
