Fragments of Knowing

Books tumble across this canvas as if caught mid-thought, each one a fragment of some larger question. The artist gathers open and closed volumes into a restless pile, then breaks them apart through the language of Cubism. Pages fracture into planes. Spines slant at impossible angles. Nothing sits still.

Thick palette knife strokes build the surface into something you almost want to touch. Ridges of paint catch the light, casting tiny shadows that shift as you move. This impasto technique gives the books weight and presence, turning flat pages into sculpted terrain.

Bold black lines slash through the composition, guiding your eye from corner to corner. They impose order on the chaos, holding the tumbling forms together like scaffolding around a collapsing thought.

The palette carries warmth and depth. Terracotta red and burnt orange glow beside earthy ochre, while slate gray cools the edges and cream lifts the open pages into light.

There is something deeply human here. The scattered books speak to how we gather knowledge, lose track of it, and try to make sense of the pieces. In their beautiful disorder, we recognize our own minds, forever building meaning from fragments.
