GLAS 3000 V8 at Golden Hour in Tuscany

When I first imagined this painting, I saw the GLAS 3000 V8 resting where it seemed to belong: on a rustic stone path in the Tuscan hills, just as the golden hour began to fade. Built in Bavaria and shaped by an Italian hand, this rare coupe feels to me like a meeting of two worlds. In this painting, it finally comes home to the landscape that inspired its lines.

I painted the deep forest green body with smoother strokes, letting the warm amber light slide across the hood, the roof and the gleaming chrome. Around the car, I let my brush loosen. Thick impasto layers shape the cypress trees standing guard, the weathered stone wall and the shrubs glowing in maroon and burnt orange. Impasto means paint applied so heavily that each stroke keeps its texture. Long violet and blue shadows stretch across the earth, and the cool green of the car stands out against ochre, sienna and gold.

For me, this scene is about more than a classic car. It holds the quiet romance of grand touring, of roads traveled slowly and evenings shared. I hope it invites you to pause, to remember your own journeys, and to feel that we are all, in some way, still on the road together.
