GOLD DUST

GOLD DUST – description

With GOLD DUST, I have created an abstract landscape in which texture and craftsmanship take centre stage. The work is entirely hand-painted using toothbrushes. By splashing and building up layers of acrylic paint, a delicate, grainy surface emerges that evokes dust, mist and weathered materials; elements that always inspire me.

I deliberately work with contrasts between cool blue tones and warm, golden layers. In this painting, I have sought a balance between stillness and movement. With the soft, hazy horizon, I aim to suggest a landscape that slowly fades, as if dissolving into light and time. At the same time, the many layers and textures create depth and a strong physical presence.

My working method is direct and intensive. I stand close to the work and build it up through repetition, control and chance. Sometimes I end up with something I didn’t intend. Something beautiful I hadn’t conceived.
The technique using toothbrushes allows me to create a specific texture that I cannot achieve with any other tool. The result is a surface that keeps changing depending on distance and the angle of the light.

With GOLD DUST, I aim to create a work that is not only visually interesting but also tangible in its construction. An original artwork in which material, labour and layering come together, and which continues to intrigue, both from a distance and up close.
