When a girl wears a bikini on the diving board in the 60s, this was considered to be sexy. In fact, surfing was considered to be such a wild and sensuous sport that it was referred to as "surfing the waves." The bold and adventurous attitude of the surfers was often epitomized by a girl wearing a bikini on the diving board. The fifties-style girl wore clothing that showed her personality and sense of sex appeal. She was bold enough to rock a fifties-style skirt with a very revealing top.

It is evident that the fifties-style woman put more effort into her appearance than the modern day surfer. She desired to draw attention to her features while at the same time creating a more daring look. Just as the fifties style of dress meant that the woman was not afraid to draw attention to her best assets, the same can be said for the bikini. Although many of today's woman wear bikinis, they are often covered by clothing to keep them comfortable at the beach or pool side.

The fifties style was all about showing off what you had, while at the same time being in complete control of your sexuality. Today, many women have adopted these fashions from the past.
