Honda Gold Wing at First Light

I began this painting the way I begin most mornings, searching for something that holds still long enough to be understood. The Honda Gold Wing gave me that stillness. On the canvas, it rests at the edge of an empty road, chrome catching the low sun as though the metal itself remembers every mile it has carried.

I painted the headlight first. It felt like a single open eye, patient and awake. From there I worked outward into the deep lacquer of the tank, the soft blur of asphalt beneath the tires, the faint reflection of sky curved along polished steel. The exhaust still seems warm to me, even now.

This machine is built for long journeys, and that is why it moved me. It speaks of distance, of the quiet company we keep with the roads that shape us. In its weight I saw endurance. In its shine I saw hope.

Painting it became a way of honoring the journeys we all take, alone yet somehow together. I hope you feel that when you stand before it. I hope you sense the road still calling, and the courage it takes to answer.
