Klavertje 4 artistic panorama

The ‘Four-leaf Clover’ artistic panorama painting fills the wide canvas with a dense carpet of clover leaves. The four-part leaves overlap right into the corners, each composed of heart-shaped segments from which fine veins fan outwards like luminous lines. At the bottom and along the edges, everything fades into black.

The rendering lends the plants an almost electric quality. Where the veins run, the leaf glows in a bright yellow-green, whilst the tissue in between remains darker and sometimes even takes on a deep green or brown hue. Here and there, a red or orange vein flashes through the green. Thanks to this interplay of glowing lines, the leaves appear almost translucent, as if light were shining through them from behind. The irregular layering of large and small leaves ensures that your eye constantly discovers a new layer. All that green against black makes the work striking without becoming overwhelming. Above a sideboard, in a hallway or against a dark wall, the glow comes into its own.

The four-leaf clover is a rare anomaly: roughly one in five thousand clover plants has one. Here, they hang together in their dozens, giving the image a sense of a happiness you no longer need to seek out.
