Moto Guzzi Stelvio at Golden Hour

When I painted this Moto Guzzi Stelvio, I wanted to capture the moment just before a journey truly begins. The rider sits upright, gloved hands firm on the handlebars, black leather and a glossy helmet catching the last warm light. In that dark visor, I see a reflection of every traveler who has ever paused to look far ahead.

Behind them, a serpentine road winds through the alpine pass, disappearing into valleys I can only imagine. Above, the golden-hour sky swirls with deep blue, orange, and soft white clouds. I let the brushstrokes stay thick and visible, an impasto technique where the paint rises from the canvas, so the air itself seems to move.

The contrast between warm and cool tones became the heart of the work for me. Gold traces the rider's shoulders and the Stelvio's silver contours, while the transverse V-twin engine and wire-spoke wheels rest in cooler shadow. Light and darkness share the same winding road.

For me, this painting is about freedom, but also about connection. Rider, machine, and mountain move together as one. I hope it invites you to remember your own open road, and the quiet courage it takes to follow where it leads.
