A bunch of clustered woodlover covering a dead tree stump. You may not see it, but really, that tree stump had been covered over by these mushrooms, each one looking for space to grow. They then form overlapping canopies and very occasionally some stalks are still visible. But nothing more, either. For me this is the essence of autumn.
