Northern Lights – abstract, green and purple

The ‘Northern Lights’ abstract green-and-purple painting brings the magic of the polar sky to life in a dreamlike and dynamic composition, in which swirling swathes of turquoise, violet and deep blue above a dark row of pine trees combine to form a nocturnal scene that feels mystical and almost surreal. This extraordinary work of art features broad, swirling brushstrokes that undulate like curtains of light across the starry sky, with the thick layers of paint and the glistening stars capturing the spectacle in an artistic and contemporary manner. The emerald green, amethyst purple and ink-black hues lend the whole an enchanting aura that subtly yet powerfully reflects the stillness of a polar night.

The streaks of light spiral upwards from the right-hand corner and converge above the forest, whilst the sharp, dark treetops at the bottom of the image anchor it firmly and allow the glowing centre to stand out as a source of light.

The deep midnight blue combined with the vibrant green glow makes this piece an atmospheric choice for a modern, rugged or dreamy interior. Hung on the wall of a living room, bedroom or office, it adds depth and tranquillity, whilst above a sofa or bed it lends the space a magical, serene glow.

Travellers to the north, stargazers and fans of expressive colours will find in this painting a night full of light that begins anew every day.
