About ‘On Open Sea’ by Rita Tielemans Kunst

This artwork shows an expressive and dynamic depiction of a fleet of sailboats making their way through a turbulent sea. The artist uses powerful brushstrokes and a rich colour palette of blues, greys and earth tones to capture movement and atmosphere. The tall, angled sails dominate the image and almost seem to dance to the rhythm of the wind.

The contrast between the light canvas of the sails and the dark, turbulent waves enhances the sense of tension and energy. The sky is dramatic and seems to be in motion, adding to the sense of unpredictability at sea. The style is impressionistic with a touch of abstraction, emphasising feeling and movement rather than realistic detail.
