The Grand Canyon of Arizona, USA, is not monochromatic. Depending upon the time of day and the weather, the cliffs and rocks of this majestic landscape exhibit all of the hues on the color wheel.
The artwork, Polychromatic Canyon, invites you to take a hike along the rim of the canyon. It is late afternoon, early evening, and the waning sun is lazily working its way from the depths of the canyon, which are now immersed in shadow, to the tops of the cliffs, glowing gold and rust in some places, pink and grey in others.
You have found a quiet spot, away from the many tourists (millions!) who come to this iconic landscape every year, and in the silence and the calm that surround you, you watch the shifting and changing colors, marvel at the ruggedness of the cliffs, and peer down to the very bottom where the river runs, slow and easy and timeless.
