Portrait of a Mafia monkey

The ‘Mafia Monkey’ portrait painting depicts a figure that immediately gives the impression there is more to it than meets the eye. A monkey looks at you from beneath the brim of a dark fedora, dressed in a smart suit that contrasts sharply with his shaggy fur. The deep black surrounding him swallows everything up, so that only his face is caught in the light.

It is the gaze that carries this work. A calculated calm emanates from his eyes, as if he has already had the conversation before it even began. The fine wrinkles around his eyes and his alert expression lend the portrait a surprising depth, whilst the tailored suit and hat lend it a veneer of civilisation that doesn’t quite fit. That tension between cunning and style makes the image both amusing and slightly unsettling.

The stunning colours and exclusive design make this photo print a real eye-catcher that effortlessly holds your attention. Whether you hang it in the living room, a man cave or a rugged home office, it brings a sense of character, humour and stylish menace wherever it goes.

Anyone who loves animal portraits with a hidden meaning, gangster films or art that’s just a little off the beaten track will find this a piece that continues to intrigue. Every time you look at it, that monkey seems to know just a little bit more than you do.
