Portrait, profile In shades of green

An expressive portrait in profile, built up from an interplay of loose brushstrokes, transparent layers and sketchy contour lines. The soft shades of green and blue form a harmonious base, whilst accents in ochre yellow and earth tones lend the face rhythm and depth. The work exudes a calm, almost meditative atmosphere, with the closed eyes suggesting a moment of introspection and stillness.

The composition is distinctive due to the combination of precise anatomical observation and abstract division of space. The face appears simultaneously constructed and dissected by the various areas of colour. This creates a fascinating tension between figuration and abstraction. The thin, almost spontaneous lines running across the face give the work a sketchy quality and reveal the creative process as part of the final image. Striking details include the subtle overlaps of transparent colours around the eye and the jawline, creating a sense of movement. The bridge of the nose and the chin are also rendered with minimal lines, yet retain a powerful presence. The warm tones of the lips provide a natural focal point within the predominantly cool colour palette. The work combines elegance, vulnerability and modernity, and fits perfectly into contemporary interiors where art with a refined and artistic aesthetic is desired.
