Purple Chive Flower After Rain - a purple chive flower covered in water droplets. The stamen are sitting iin water. Droplets are lined up all over the tiny chive flower florets. The background is a speckled gren and yellow with natural warm tones. I photographed this purple chive flower at birdseye view to show how the water is puddles and lines the flower. Chive flowers are edible and have been used in cooking and for medicinal purposes for over 4000 years. Even after a fresh rain I could smell the chive plant in my garden.
The chive plant is one of the herbs which does not need any winter protection and comes back strong each Spring. This one is the first of many to bloom and a delight to our pollinators. Honeybees love any flower which comes from the onion family. The flower is edible and so are its long leaves. We had a strong Spring rain and this tiny chive flower is covered and filled with water.
