Retro Pop Frequency

A vibrantly coloured illustration in the Memphis style, combining analogue audio equipment such as record players and cassette players with abstract, geometric patterns in bright neon colours.

The rhythms of past decades manifest themselves in garish forms. In a loud clash of colours and textures, analogue audio equipment and abstract geometry merge to create a visual beat. It is a scene that captures the rebellious spirit of the 1980s and catapults it into the present with pure, synthetic energy.

The work ‘Retro Pop Frequency’ celebrates the golden age of analogue music through the radical lens of Memphis design. Record players, transparent cassettes and thick audio cables merge with abstract grids and geometric patterns to form a highly dynamic collage. The extremely saturated colour palette of magenta, cyan and bright yellow generates maximum visual energy that instantly dominates the room. This motif fits perfectly into creative studios, urban lofts or dedicated music rooms. It complements interior concepts that rely on deliberate stylistic breaks, strong colour contrasts and a self-assured, eclectic vibe.

The conceptual basis of this work is a graphic homage to the rebellious design language of the Memphis Group of the 1980s. The focus lies on the emotional and visual impact of analogue technology. Through a radical departure from realistic proportions, strict colour-blocking and the integration of two-dimensional vector patterns such as grids and zigzag lines, the acoustic experience of the music is visualised – garish, synthetic and impossible to overlook.
