St Abbs Head is a beautiful nature reserve in the south-east of Scotland. It consists of a headland (not in the picture) and rugged coastline with high cliffs and rocks from which you have a magnificent view of the sea. The picture shows the eponymous village of St Abbs with the harbor.
The coastline at St Abbs Head has been formed over millions of years and is made up of diverse rocks. The headland itself was formed by lava flowing from volcanoes.
In the front left of the photo, you can see a beautiful rock formation casting shadows on a cliff called White Heugh. On the right side of the picture you can just see a piece of beach that consists of large pebbles. The whole area is well worth a walk.
Fun fact: the village and surrounding area of St Abbs was used in the 2019 movie Avengers: Endgame. In the movie, the village was named New Asgard, where the surviving Asgardians lived, led by Thor. To celebrate the filming, the Scottish Borders Council has released a sign that reads "St Abbs Twinned with New Asgard", as if the village is twinned with the fictional village. The sign can be seen at the entrance to the village and next to the St Abbs Visitor Center for visitors to take pictures.
I enjoy taking pictures of nature, from colorful flowers to the vast landscapes of Scotland and Norway. Photos of European cities can also be found in my shop. Whatever photos they are, I create them with the idea that they really add atmosphere to your home or workplace.
