Sea and Sand Woman

A woman stands at the center of this striking oil painting, her arms raised gracefully as she adjusts her dark hair. Dressed in a soft peach wrap dress, she radiates warmth and quiet confidence, her figure rendered with careful, luminous realism against a background that pulses with geometric energy.

That background is where the painting truly captivates. The world behind her is fractured into a grid of rectangular blocks — sky, sand, and sea divided into clean geometric planes like a mosaic or stained glass window. Pale cream and soft blue capture a sky caught between sunrise and dusk. Warm ochre and tan blocks build sculpted dunes. Deep teal and indigo suggest a churning ocean, its surface alive with thick, expressive strokes of white foam.

Layered across this gridded world, translucent nautilus shells drift like memories at the water's edge, their spiraling forms bridging the desert and the deep.

The contrast between the woman's organic, three-dimensional figure and the flattened geometric landscape creates a dreamlike tension — as though she exists both within and beyond the natural world surrounding her. Warm earth tones and cool ocean blues meet in careful balance, producing a composition that feels serene, symbolic, and quietly breathtaking.
