Self-discovery

This work of art combines modern elements with classic landscape views. It is reminiscent of Romanticism with its emphasis on the power and beauty of nature, combined with elements of Surrealism through the otherworldly, dreamlike depiction.
Digital overlays and montages are combined with sharp silhouettes and soft colour gradients as well as the use of script-like characters.

The work shows a scene with a stark contrast between two different worlds. In the foreground, a stony path can be seen leading into the picture. A figure with a torch stands on this path, gazing into the distance. The centre of the picture is marked by a large circular cut-out that allows a view into another world - a world filled with a bright, warm orange, reminiscent of the sky at sunset. Within this circle, silhouettes of trees and mountains can be recognised, forming a stark contrast to the dark foreground. The background of the painting is covered with characters reminiscent of a manuscript, adding a textured dimension to the composition.
Ultimately, this work represents the journey of life, where the path we take is often unclear and only illuminated by our own actions, while the destination - the large glowing element - is a symbol of personal goals, enlightenment or the end of a journey.
