Suzuki V-Strom 800 Touring Golden Hills

When I painted this scene, I wanted to hold on to that fleeting hour when the sun hangs low and the whole world seems to breathe more slowly. A lone rider, dressed in dark gear and a black full-face helmet, guides a grey metallic Suzuki V-Strom 800 along an open asphalt road. The bike's headlights glow warm against the fading day, and golden light catches the tank, the windscreen and the rider's shoulders.

Behind them, rolling hills unfold in terracotta, ochre and deep brown, softened by cool blues and purples in the valleys. I built the surface with heavy, impasto-style brushstrokes, thick and textured marks that let the paint itself feel like wind and motion. The farther the hills recede, the looser my hand became, so the landscape dissolves into atmosphere while the motorcycle stays sharp and present.

For me, this painting is about freedom, but also about a solitude that never feels lonely. Every traveler on an empty road carries the same quiet longing: to move forward, to see what lies beyond the next curve. Whether this moment is dawn or dusk, I gladly leave to you. Perhaps it is both, an ending and a beginning sharing the same golden light.
