Swarm of Freedom

Dynamic composition of overlapping bird shapes that appear to fly in different directions. The work is executed in a style reminiscent of a modern interpretation of a pattern, with sharp, delineated shapes in contrasting colours. The birds are rendered in various shades of blue and white, contrasting against a background of ochre yellow and dark blue. This combination of colours creates a lively and energetic image.

The layering of the birds, with some overlapping each other, gives a sense of movement and depth, as if the birds were floating through the air in a swarm. The changing colours and shadows enhance this sense of dynamism, while the abstraction of the shapes invites the viewer to focus on the composition as a whole rather than individual details.

What is striking is the balance between chaos and order in the work. The birds seem randomly scattered across the canvas, but the repetition of shapes and colours creates a harmonious and coherent composition. This work evokes associations with freedom, movement and the grandeur of nature, while maintaining an abstract and stylised aesthetic.
