Volvo P1800 on a Golden Tuscan Road

I painted this Volvo P1800 the way I remember the last light of a long summer day: warmly, with a little ache of nostalgia. The car rests at an angle on a winding dirt road somewhere in Tuscany, its deep green body glowing against a world of gold. I wanted the scene to feel less like a picture of a car and more like a pause on a journey we have all taken, or dreamed of taking.

Working in an impressionistic style, I let thick, expressive brushstrokes carry the story. The road is built from layers of ochre, cream, and amber, catching the sun on every ridge. Above, the sky sweeps in bold strokes of orange and honey, while tall cypress trees stand like quiet guardians beside an old stone wall. Beyond them, rolling hills fade into the distance.

The chrome details gave me the most joy to paint. The round headlights, the bumpers, and the gleaming hubcaps hold tiny sparks of sunset, as if the car remembers every road it has traveled.

For me, this painting is about freedom and connection. It invites you to step in, breathe slowly, and share the romance of wandering through Europe at golden hour.
