Canal Housefronts at Dusk

Canal Housefronts at Dusk depicts a row of narrow canal-side houses along dark, mirror-like water. Pink, green, brown, orange and almost black façades stand close together. The tall windows have light-coloured frames and form regular patterns. Above the gables lies a warm yellow-orange sky. In front of the houses, elongated boats lie along the quay, low in the picture.

The façades vary in height, colour and the shape of their gables. Some end in a point, others have small steps or curved edges. In the water, their colours are stretched into loose vertical reflections. Bright pink, yellow and turquoise accents contrast with the dark foreground. The lines are not sharp everywhere, but remain painterly and irregular. The horizontal boats connect the row of houses and form a tranquil transition to the rippling water.

This colourful urban wall art suits a living room, dining room or hall with a calm backdrop. The artwork will appeal to lovers of Dutch canal architecture and warm evening colours. Pink, yellow or green accessories can complement the façades and reflections. From a distance, the row of houses and the light sky stand out; up close, the small windows, various boats and loose brushstrokes become visible. The wide composition gives the cityscape a balanced rhythm.
